About This Service

Brakes Are Not
Optional Maintenance.

Worn brake pads are among the most common — and most dangerous — deferred maintenance items on vehicles in Dubai. The city's traffic patterns require constant stop-start braking that wears pads faster than highway-dominated driving. Yet because brake wear is gradual and silent until it is not, many drivers are unaware their pads have reached a critical level until the wear indicator produces the screeching noise that means it is urgent.

The consequences of driving on worn brakes in Dubai's conditions are significant. At the speeds common on Sheikh Zayed Road and the Emirates Road, a vehicle with degraded braking performance has substantially longer stopping distances. Worn pads that are not replaced begin cutting into the brake disc — transforming a pad replacement job into a more expensive disc replacement as well. And brake fluid that has absorbed moisture over time boils under heavy braking, causing brake fade at exactly the moment you need maximum stopping power.

At Kartal Auto, every brake job is carried out properly — disc thickness measured and recorded, brake fluid condition tested, correct OEM or performance pad fitted for the specific vehicle, and a proper bedding procedure carried out before the car is returned. We do not rush brake work.

What We Do

Brake Services
We Offer in Dubai

From a standard pad replacement to a full brake system overhaul — every brake service available for luxury and exotic vehicles at our Dubai workshop.

1. Brake Pad Replacement

Front or rear brake pads replaced with OEM-specification pads for your exact vehicle.
All four pistons retracted before fitting. Caliper slides cleaned and greased. Correct pad anti-squeal compound applied. Disc surface condition assessed and recorded at the same time. Bedding procedure carried out before the car is returned.

2. Brake Disc Replacement

Worn, deeply scored, cracked, or warped brake discs replaced with OEM or OEM-equivalent discs. Disc thickness measured against the manufacturer's minimum specification at the time of pad replacement — if the disc is below minimum or showing heat cracks, it is replaced simultaneously to avoid a second wheel-off service visit.

3. Brake Fluid Change

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, reducing its boiling point and increasing the risk of brake fade under heavy braking. A critical safety service — particularly for high-performance vehicles driven hard in Dubai's heat. We test brake fluid moisture content before replacing and flush the entire system with the correct DOT-rated fluid for the vehicle.

4. Caliper Service & Overhaul

Brake caliper pistons and seals inspected for seizure, leakage, and uneven wear. Seized pistons — a common cause of premature pad wear and brake pulling — freed and resealed. Caliper slides cleaned and lubricated to restore correct float movement.
Full caliper replacement where the unit is beyond serviceability.

5. Full Brake System Inspection

A comprehensive inspection of every brake system component — pad thickness, disc thickness and surface condition, caliper condition and piston movement, brake hose condition, brake fluid moisture level, handbrake cable tension, and ABS sensor condition. Full written report provided. Recommended before any extended drive, at every oil change.

6. Performance Brake Upgrade

Uprated brake pads for vehicles used on track days or driven aggressively — Brembo, Pagid, EBC, or AP Racing pads appropriate for the specific brake system. Performance compounds provide higher operating temperature resistance and shorter stopping distances in exchange for increased dust and a firmer cold bite. Advised on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis.

7. Electronic Handbrake Service

Modern luxury vehicles with electronic parking brakes require a specialist electronic retraction tool to service the rear caliper pistons during pad replacement — the pistons cannot be manually compressed without this tool. We have the correct equipment for every luxury brand's electronic parking brake system, including Rolls Royce, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes, and Land Rover.

8. Ceramic Brake Pad Upgrade

Premium ceramic brake compound pads for luxury vehicles where low dust, low noise, and excellent progressive feel are priorities alongside performance. Ceramic compounds generate significantly less wheel dust than semi-metallic pads — a particular benefit on polished or painted alloy wheels that show brake dust immediately.

Pad Types

Types of Brake Pads
We Fit in Dubai

Not all brake pads are the same — and the right choice depends on your vehicle, how you drive it, and what you prioritise: low dust, performance, longevity, or noise. Here is a complete breakdown of every pad type we stock and fit.

Pad Type

What It Is

Key Properties

Best For

OEM /Original

The same pad compound specified by the vehicle manufacturer — identical or equivalent to the pads fitted at the factory. Formulated to provide the correct balance of braking performance, low noise, low dust, and disc compatibility that the manufacturer designed the brake system around. The default correct choice for any vehicle driven on public roads.

Correct factory balance · Low noise · Moderate dust · Disc-friendly · Consistent feel · Predictable wear life

All vehicles driven on public roads. Standard daily driving. Any vehicle where the factory brake feel is to be maintained.

Ceramic

A premium pad compound using ceramic fibres and non-ferrous filler material. Ceramic pads produce significantly less brake dust than semi-metallic compounds — and the dust they produce is lighter in colour, making it far less visible on polished or painted alloy wheels. Excellent progressive feel, low noise, and good high-temperature stability. A premium upgrade for any luxury vehicle.

Very low dust · Light-coloured dust (barely visible) · Low noise · Progressive feel · Good high-temp stability · Long pad life

Rolls Royce, Bentley, any luxury vehicle with polished alloys, owners who want minimal wheel dust, daily luxury drivers

Semi-Metallic /
Performance

A compound containing metal fibres (steel, copper, or similar) in a resin matrix. Provides higher friction coefficients than OEM pads — resulting in shorter stopping distances, especially from higher speeds. Rated for higher operating temperatures. The correct choice for high-performance vehicles, track use, and aggressively driven sports cars where maximum retardation is prioritised over dust levels.

Higher friction coefficient · Shorter stopping distances · High-temp rated · Excellent feel at speed · More brake dust · Stiffer pedal feel

BMW M models, Mercedes AMG, Porsche, Lamborghini (track use), Ferrari, aggressive highway drivers, track day vehicles

Carbon-Ceramic
Compound

Specialist pads designed specifically for vehicles fitted with carbon-ceramic brake disc systems — as found on Lamborghini performance models, Ferrari Pista/Speciale/XX variants, McLaren, and Porsche GT models. Carbon-ceramic discs require a pad compound formulated for their specific friction characteristics and operating temperature range. Standard pads should never be used on carbon-ceramic discs.

Compatible with carbon-ceramic discs · Exceptional high-temp performance · Used at full track conditions · Very long pad life on CCM systems

Lamborghini (CCM option), Ferrari (Pista/Speciale/488 Pista), McLaren, Porsche GT2/GT3/GT4 RS — any vehicle with carbon-ceramic discs

HOW IT WORKS

Our Car Brake Pad Replacement Process

A properly done brake pad replacement is not just a pad swap. Here is every step — from wheel removal to bedding procedure — that we carry out on every brake job.

Why Choose Us?

Why Dubai's Car Owners Trust Us With Their Brakes?

Brakes are the only thing that stops a 2,500 kg Rolls Royce from 120 km/h. The pad compound, the disc condition, the caliper function, and the fluid quality all matter — and they all get the same level of attention at Kartal Auto regardless of the vehicle's value.

Correct Electronic Tool

Luxury vehicles with electronic parking brakes cannot have their rear calipers serviced without an electronic retraction tool.

Bedding Procedure

New pads require a bedding procedure to transfer an even layer of friction material to the disc face

Wheel Bolts
Torqued

Every wheel is torqued to the manufacturer's specified value using a calibrated torque wrench or torque stick.

Brake Fluid Moisture Tested

Moisture-contaminated brake fluid boils under hard braking, causing sudden and total brake fade

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about brake pad replacement in Dubai. Have a question about your vehicle? Message us directly.

1. How much does car brake pad replacement cost in Dubai?
Brake pad replacement starts from AED 300 per axle for standard luxury vehicles (Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover). AMG, M Power, and Porsche 911 start from AED 500 per axle. Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Rolls Royce start from AED 800 per axle. Brake disc replacement starts from AED 400 per disc. Brake fluid flush starts from AED 200. A brake inspection only is AED 100, waived when replacement is carried out at the same visit.

2. How do brake pad lasts on a luxury SUV?
On a daily-driven luxury SUV in Dubai city traffic — with frequent braking from highway speeds and stop-start urban conditions — front brake pads typically last between 20,000 and 35,000 km. Rear pads typically last longer. Vehicles driven mainly on highway with few hard braking events will see pads last significantly longer. We recommend a brake inspection every 15,000 km or at every oil change to track pad wear before it reaches a critical level.
3. How do I know if my car brake pad need replacing?
A squealing sound when braking — especially if it disappears when you release the pedal — is the wear indicator contacting the disc. This means pads are near the end of their life and require prompt replacement. A grinding metal-on-metal sound means the pad material is fully gone and the backing plate is contacting the disc — this is a safety emergency requiring immediate attention. A pulsing pedal or vibration under braking suggests warped discs. Any of these symptoms is a reason to book an inspection now rather than later.

4. What is brake bedding procedure and why does it matter?
Bedding is the process of transferring a thin, even layer of friction material from the new pad surface onto the disc face through a controlled series of braking applications from moderate speeds. Without bedding, the pad surface contact is initially uneven — resulting in inconsistent bite, increased squeal, and in some cases uneven material transfer that causes judder. Bedded brakes feel more consistent, bite more progressively, and last longer than unsheathed pads driven hard from cold. We carry out the bedding procedure on every brake pad fitment before returning the vehicle.

5. Should I my car brake fluid when I change pads?
We test the brake fluid moisture content at every brake service. If the moisture reading is above 3% — which means the fluid's boiling point has dropped significantly from new — we recommend a fluid flush at the same time as the pad change. Even if the reading is acceptable, brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years regardless of mileage or apparent condition. Moisture in brake fluid is invisible to the eye — only an electronic test reveals the true condition.
