About This Service

Steering Feel Is What
Makes a Luxury Car Feel Luxury.

The quality of the steering system is one of the defining characteristics of any luxury vehicle. A Rolls Royce Phantom is engineered to steer with absolute serenity — an effortless, perfectly weighted response to the lightest touch. A Porsche 911 is engineered for direct, communicative precision. When the steering system develops a fault, neither of these vehicles feels like itself. The experience the manufacturer intended disappears — replaced by heaviness, looseness, vibration, or noise.

Steering faults in Dubai's environment develop from two primary sources: component wear from the heavy use cycles of Dubai's dense traffic and speed bumps, and heat-related degradation of steering fluid, seals, and electronic components that cycle through extreme temperature ranges daily. Both types of fault require proper electronic diagnosis before any mechanical work is carried out — particularly on modern luxury vehicles where the EPS (electric power steering) system is governed by a dedicated control module with specific fault codes.

At Kartal Auto, every steering job begins with an electronic scan. We identify the fault before quoting. We carry out wheel alignment after every rack or tie rod repair. And we restore steering wheel leather — the highest-contact interior surface in any vehicle — to its original condition as part of our steering service offering.

What We Do

Steering Repair Services
We Offer in Dubai

From a power steering fluid flush to a full rack replacement — every steering service available for luxury and exotic vehicles at our Dubai workshop.

1. Steering System Diagnostic

Electronic scan of the EPS control module for stored fault codes, combined with a physical inspection of all steering components — rack, pump, hoses, fluid level, tie rods, and column. The fault is identified and documented before any repair is quoted. We never recommend replacing components that the diagnostic does not confirm as failed.

2. Electric Power Steering (EPS) Repair

Electronic diagnosis and repair of EPS systems — the electrically assisted steering fitted to all modern luxury vehicles. EPS faults are diagnosed via the steering control module fault codes. Common faults include EPS motor failure, torque sensor failure, column position sensor drift, and control module software faults. Correctly diagnosable only with brand-specific software.

3. Power Steering Pump Replacement

The hydraulic pump that pressurises the power steering system on older luxury vehicles replaced when worn, seized, or leaking. A failing pump produces a characteristic whining groan when turning at low speed or when the steering is held at full lock. Replaced with OEM-specification units. Power steering fluid flushed and refilled as part of the replacement.

4. Steering Rack Replacement

The steering rack — the core component that translates steering wheel rotation into wheel direction change — replaced when leaking, worn, or producing excessive play. A rack replacement requires wheel alignment after completion, as the tie rod ends are disturbed during replacement. Alignment is included in every steering rack replacement at Kartal Auto.

5. Tie Rod End Replacement

Inner and outer tie rod ends — the ball-jointed links connecting the steering rack to the front wheel hubs — replaced when worn or producing play. Worn tie rod ends cause a vague or loose steering feel and contribute to uneven tyre wear. Every tie rod replacement requires wheel alignment after the repair, as tie rod length directly sets the toe angle at each wheel.

6. Power Steering Fluid Flush

Old, contaminated, or degraded power steering fluid flushed and replaced with fresh fluid of the correct specification for the vehicle. Contaminated fluid causes premature wear of the pump seals and rack seals — and is the most common cause of power steering leaks in high-mileage vehicles. An inexpensive and frequently overlooked preventive maintenance item.

7. Steering Angle Sensor Calibration

After any steering rack replacement, tie rod adjustment, or wheel alignment on a vehicle with stability control, the steering angle sensor must be recalibrated to the straight-ahead position.

Without this calibration, the stability control and lane-keeping systems use an incorrect reference point — causing false interventions and warning lights. Carried out on every relevant repair.

8. Steering Wheel Leather Repair

The steering wheel is the most frequently touched surface inside any vehicle — and the one most visibly damaged by sunscreen, body oils, and UV in Dubai's climate. Leather cracking, peeling, fading, and wear on luxury steering wheels repaired using the same professional colour-matched, grain-embossed leather repair techniques used for seat leather. Heating and control button functions are fully preserved.

Diagnosis Guide

Steering Symptoms &
What They Usually Mean

Different steering symptoms point to different failed components. Here is a clear guide matching what you are experiencing to the most likely cause and typical repair.

Heavy / stiff steering

Most Likely Cause

Typical Repair

Urgency

Heavy / stiff steering

EPS motor or torque sensor fault (on EPS vehicles). Or failing hydraulic pump or low fluid (on hydraulic vehicles). EPS warning light usually accompanies EPS faults.

Electronic diagnostic first. EPS component replacement or hydraulic pump replacement based on confirmed fault.

Diagnose Soon

Whining noise when turning

Hydraulic power steering pump wear (most common on older vehicles). Or low / contaminated fluid. Or air in the hydraulic circuit. Whine typically more pronounced at full lock.

Power steering fluid flush first — resolves air and contamination. If whine persists, pump replacement. Fluid leak source found and repaired.

Service Soon

Loose / vague steering feel

Worn tie rod ends (most common — produces looseness that worsens on bumpy roads). Or worn steering rack allowing play between rack and pinion. Or worn column coupling.

Tie rod end replacement + wheel alignment. Or steering rack replacement + alignment. Physical inspection confirms which component is the source.

Service Soon

EPS warning light on

EPS control module has detected a fault — could be torque sensor, position sensor, EPS motor, angle sensor, or a software fault. Cannot be diagnosed without brand-specific diagnostic equipment reading the module's fault codes.

Electronic diagnostic scan. Component replacement based on confirmed fault code. Sensor calibration after replacement.

Diagnose Immediately

Clicking or knocking on steering

Worn column universal joint or flexible coupling (clicking when stationary and turning). Or worn tie rod end ball joint (clunking over bumps combined with steering). Or worn rack end bushings.

Column coupling / UJ replacement. Or tie rod end replacement + alignment. Physical inspection to isolate source.

Service Soon

Oil drip under the front of the car

Power steering fluid leak — from the rack seals (most common on high-mileage hydraulic vehicles), from a hose connection, or from the pump itself. The fluid is typically clear to amber. If the reservoir is low, the pump will begin to whine or the steering will become heavy.

Leak source identified physically. Hose replacement, rack seal replacement, or full rack replacement depending on the leak location and severity.

Service Soon

HOW IT WORKS

Our Steering Diagnosis
& Repair Process

Every steering fault is diagnosed before a repair is quoted. On EPS vehicles, this always begins with an electronic scan — no guesswork, no replacing parts on assumption.

Why Choose Us?

Why Dubai's Car Owners Trust Us With Their Steering?

The steering system defines how a luxury vehicle feels to drive. A Rolls Royce with a degraded EPS system is not a Rolls Royce anymore — the serenity the engineers built into it is gone. Restoring it correctly requires the right diagnostic tools, the right parts, and the right calibration afterwards.

Electronic Diagnosis Before Any Repair

We never recommend replacing a steering component based on symptoms alone.

rand-Specific EPS Diagnostic Software

Generic OBD readers cannot access the EPS module on a Rolls Royce, Bentley, or Lamborghini.

Steering Angle Sensor Calibrated

We calibrate the steering angle sensor after every rack, tie rod, or alignment job on any vehicle with stability control.

Post-Repair Test Drive

Every steering repair is validated on a test drive — not just confirmed by running the engine on the forecourt.

FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about steering repair in Dubai. Have a specific question about your vehicle or symptom? Message us directly.

1. How much does a car steering repair cost in Dubai?
An EPS diagnostic starts from AED 150 (waived with repair booking). A power steering fluid flush starts from AED 200. Tie rod replacement per axle starts from AED 800 including alignment. Power steering pump replacement starts from AED 800. Steering rack replacement starts from AED 2,000 including alignment. EPS torque sensor replacement starts from AED 600. Steering wheel leather repair starts from AED 400. Contact us for a free, vehicle-specific assessment.

2. How long does steering repair cost in Dubai?
An EPS diagnostic takes approximately 1 hour. A power steering fluid flush takes 1 to 2 hours. A tie rod replacement takes 2 to 3 hours including alignment and sensor calibration. A power steering pump replacement takes 2 to 4 hours. A steering rack replacement takes 4 to 6 hours including alignment and calibration. A steering wheel leather repair takes 4 to 6 hours. Most single-component repairs are completed same-day. We confirm the turnaround time when you bring the vehicle in.
3. Can you fix an electric power steering on a Rolls Royce or Bentley?
Yes. EPS diagnosis and repair on Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and all other luxury brands is one of our most frequently performed mechanical services. We use brand-specific diagnostic software to read the EPS module fault codes on these vehicles — generic diagnostic tools cannot access these modules. The fault code identifies the specific component that has failed before any parts are ordered or replaced.

4. Does steering repair include wheel alignment?
Yes — wheel alignment is included in the price of every steering rack replacement and every tie rod end replacement at Kartal Auto. These are the two steering repairs that directly affect wheel geometry — the tie rod length sets toe angle, and replacing the rack disturbs the entire tie rod assembly. Repairing either without subsequently aligning the vehicle leaves the steering geometry undefined. We include alignment as standard in both — it is not an optional extra.

5. Why is my steering wheel leather cracking?
The steering wheel is the single highest-contact surface in any vehicle — handled on every journey, exposed to skin oils, sunscreen, and the full force of Dubai's cabin heat when parked. Sunscreen products are particularly damaging to steering wheel leather — the chemical components in SPF products strip the dye and break down the leather surface coating. Without regular conditioning, the leather dries out in the heat and cracks. We repair steering wheel leather and advise on the correct maintenance routine to prevent it recurring.
